Skin Substitute Grafting

Cutting-edge technology to help you heal faster and safely at home

Skin substitute grafts are used to treat wounds that are not healing in the standard amount of time. These grafts come from amniotic tissue and contain the scaffolding on which the body can grow its own new skin. This type of treatment is highly effective in complicated, non-healing wounds and large/deep wounds. Wound closure is generally expected in 6-12 weeks.

Chronic and non-healing wounds need a comprehensive treatment plan including a diet high in protein, fruits and vegetables to give the body the nutrients it needs to heal. Sometimes diet changes and standard wound debridement (removing dead tissue/skin) are not enough, and the wounds are unable to heal even after months or years of care.

If you have a wound that has not healed over the last 30 days, you may be eligible for skin substitute grafting.

This procedure is covered by Medicare.

Pain-Free Wound Debridement

Cutting-edge technology to help you heal faster and safely at home

Many people aren't familiar with pain-free wound debridement using ultrasonic technology. It's a widely respected new therapy for cleaning wounds without the need to use surgical tools or other materials, which are not only painful, but can also introduce harmful bacteria into the wound, delaying healing. Ultrasonic debridement is an innovative technology that stimulates wound healing by decreasing exudate and slough, decreasing patient’s pain and dispersing the biofilm to improve healing outcomes. In fact, in a recent study, 40.7% of participants had wounds healed after 12 weeks using ultrasonic debridement therapy, vs just 14.3% who didn't use the therapy.

Stay Home Wound Care is the only wound care service in Oakland County, MI that brings this exceptional healing directly to your home. What Are the 4 C's of Wound Care?

When you get a cut, scrape, or more serious wound, your body jumps into action right away. Healing might feel slow from the outside, but inside, there’s an incredible process taking place. One simple way to understand how wounds heal is by looking at the 4 Cs of wound care: Cellular Response, Coagulation, Contamination, and Closure. Think of these as the body’s four big jobs when it comes to repairing itself. At Stay Home Wound Care mobile wound care service in Novi, MI, we specialize in aiding your body in its effective healing process!

1. Cellular Response: Your Cells on the Move

The moment your skin is injured, your body sends in tiny “first responders.” These special cells clean up damaged tissue, fight off germs, and signal other cells to start rebuilding. It’s like a construction crew showing up to clear the site before repairs begin. So even before your injury, eating well and staying hydrated can help your cells do their job more effectively.

2. Coagulation: Stopping the Bleeding

Right after an injury, your body’s top priority is to stop blood loss. Platelets (tiny cell fragments in your blood) quickly form a clot to seal the wound and protect it. This clot also sends signals that healing needs to begin. By applying gentle pressure and using a sterile bandage, you can help your body’s natural clotting process.

3. Contamination: Keeping Germs Away

Whenever the skin is broken, bacteria can try to sneak in. A small amount of bacteria is normal, but too much can cause an infection and slow down healing. That’s why cleaning the wound and keeping it covered is so important, and where Stay Home Wound Care really shines. No more risking infection by going into multiple hazardous environments like transportation and clinics. We come to you, gently caring for the wound, changing dressings, and watching for signs of infection (like redness, swelling, or pus) all to help your body heal safely and effectively.

4. Closure: Sealing the Wound

The final step is closure—when your body knits the skin back together. Sometimes this happens naturally with new tissue, but often times with surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, venous stasis wounds, and bed sores, you may need extra special attention. Stay Home Wound Care can help ensure healthy closure, right from the safety of your own home. Once closed, the wound is protected again, and the skin slowly becomes stronger over time. We can help you protect the wound, giving it time to heal which reduces scarring and lowers the chance of future problems.
